Quidditch finds its home at the University of Maryland

Two chasers on the University of Maryland Quidditch Team try to recover the quaffle (the volleyball) to score points against the James Madison University Quidditch Team. The Maryland Quidditch Team competed against eight other teams from different universities on Sunday Oct. 2 in the Turtle Cup. (Inside The Shell/Erin Durkin)
Team members of the James Madison Unversity Quidditch Team cheer on their players, though they lose to Maryland 100 to 40. The biggest challenge of the game is to run on the field while holding a broomstick and catching a volleyball with one hand. (Inside The Shell/Erin Durkin)
James Hicks, a Maryland graduate student and a chaser for the team, takes a break between games. His job on the team is to catch the quaffle and throw it through the opposing team’s hoops to score. (Inside The Shell/Erin Durkin)
